Something interesting that I have noticed again recently is the number of people not accepting compliments when they are given them.
It was something that I struggled for many years to accept until I was offered a piece of advice that made me see it in a different light.
Handing back a compliment, you are basically insulting the person giving the compliment by pretty much calling them a liar.
It wasn’t until I thought of it that way that I started to accept compliments.
I know it can be hard, it is so much easier for us to be dismissive and degrading of ourselves, it’s ‘the British way’.
We need to change this.
The next time someone gives you a compliment, instead of throwing it back in their face, basically shouting ‘liar, liar pant’s on fire’, just say ‘Thank you’ and believe them.
Be nice (to yourself and others)
